Evolution Gaming is famous for their clever and original re-designs of classic casino games, often adding an exciting twist to the variants that are already adrenaline fused. Their new Live Texas Hold’em Bonus edition is an interesting hybrid fusing two optional side bets into the traditional poker game: Bonus Bet and First Five Progressive Jackpot.

The number of players that can join the table is unlimited and the game participants are not playing against each other – their rival is the house, represented by the dealer.

How to Play Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker

Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker combines elements from Evolution’s earlier Live Casino Hold’em and Live Ultimate Texas Hold’em releases. This version introduces mobile-friendly gameplay, optional side bets, and a progressive jackpot. The theoretical return to player (RTP) varies depending on the wager:

  • Total bet RTP: 99.47%
  • Ante RTP: 97.96%
  • Bonus bet RTP: 91.46%
  • First 5 Progressive Jackpot RTP: 81.84%

Game Start

Each round begins with the player placing the mandatory Ante bet. Two optional wagers are also available:

  • Bonus Bet – pays based solely on the player’s initial two cards.
  • Progressive Bet – contributes to and enables wins from the First 5 Jackpot.

These side bets settle independently from the main game.

After the Ante is placed, two cards are dealt face-up to the player and face-down to the dealer. At this point, the player must choose either to Fold (forfeiting the Ante) or Play, which requires placing an additional wager.

Flop Decision

If the player continues, the dealer reveals the three-card Flop . The player must then choose one of two options:

  • Bet an amount equal to the Ante
  • Check and continue without adding more chips

Turn Decision

After the Flop action is complete, the Turn card is dealt. The player again chooses to place an additional bet (equal to the Ante) or Check.

River and Showdown

Finally, the River card is dealt face-up. The dealer reveals their two cards, and both hands are compared. Three outcomes are possible:

  • Dealer Wins. The dealer has the stronger five-card poker hand. The player loses the Ante and all subsequent Play bets. Side bets are resolved independently.
  • Tie. If both hands are equal, all main bets (Ante, Flop, Turn, River) are returned to the player. Side bets are settled based on their own criteria.
  • Player Wins. All Play bets are paid 1:1.

The Ante is also paid 1:1 only if the player’s winning hand is a Straight or better .

If the winning hand is weaker than a Straight (e.g., a pair or two pair), the Ante pushes and is returned to the player.

How to Play Evolution Gaming Live Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker Online

  • The session starts when the players submit the mandatory Ante bet – the two side bets are optional and you can disregard them completely and place them only when you found it suitable.
  • Extra two cards are then dealt to the players and the dealer and the players will need to decide if they will play and follow up with the new bet or fold. If you decide to fold, it will in no way affect the bonus bets. For the players who are staying in the game, 3 more Flop cards are dealt and the players can either continue to play with the current bet or place one more bet. Dealer will then draw the Turn card face up and the players bet or check one last time before the River card is dealt.
  • The cards are then revealed and the hand that forms a higher ranked combination with the community cards will win. In the event of a tie between the dealer and the player, all the bets are returned to the player, while the bonus bets are settled accordingly.

Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker payout table

Ante, Flop, Turn, and River bets follow the standard payout structure, offering even-money returns on a winning hand. Bonus bets, on the other hand, can pay significantly higher – traditionally up to 1000:1 . Keep in mind that betting limits differ for side bets, and the maximum stake a player can place on Bonus wagers is $250.

Bonus bets are settled based on specific combinations formed from the Player’s and Dealer’s first two cards, as outlined below:

Bet Payout
A-A Dealer+Player 1000:1
A-A Player 30:1
Suited A-K 25:1
Suited A-Q/A-J 20:1
Unsuited A-K 15:1
K-K/Q-Q/J-J 10:1
Unsuited A-Q/A-J 5:1
10-10 thru 2-2 3:1

The Progressive side bet increases with every wager placed, with 5% of each contribution added to the jackpot pool. The jackpot is awarded to players who hit qualifying hands formed from their first two cards and the three Flop cards. A Royal Flush triggers the top prize, while lower-ranking hands — such as a Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, or Three of a Kind — award only a designated percentage of the main jackpot amount.

Our Verdict of Live Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker

Providing the side bonus bets works like a charm with the standard Texas Hold’em game and adds just the right amount of extra edge to already intensive nature of poker. The fact that the bets can be disregarded completely is an advantage that allows the players to change the dynamics from one session to another, however they see fit.
