The good old game of Blackjack is the go-to for thousands of casino players around the world, so it’s no surprise that there’s no shortage of tables available online. The game we’ll be talking about here is provided by BETER Live, a leading provider of live casino games that offers multiple blackjack tables.

BETER Live blackjack is available in three distinct styles – regular, Asian, and Speed blackjack. The Asian variant simply uses a more colorful studio, which is the only difference compared to the sleek black-and-gold sets used at other tables. As the name implies, Speed blackjack simply speeds up the pace of the game by around 20%.

It’s also worth noting that BETER Live also offers Gravity Blackjack, a more distinct variant that uses a one-to-many table and multipliers. Gravity Blackjack is different enough to warrant its own review, which you can find here.

No matter which one of these tables you choose, you can expect excellent production value and a great atmosphere. These are all staples of BETER Live games, along with top-notch dealers and a user-friendly interface.

If you’re looking for more info on the rules, payouts, and features of BETER Live Blackjack, this review covers everything you need to know.

How to Play Live Blackjack by BETER Live

Generally speaking, BETER Live Blackjack is a classic rendition of the popular casino card game. Blackjack is a relatively complex game, however, so we won’t be covering every single rule and option. If you’re completely new to blackjack and need some help starting out, check out our beginner’s guide. This review will simply cover some of the rules that sometimes vary depending on which blackjack game you choose.

To play, simply find an available table and take your seat. Tables are limited to 7 hands at a time, so you may have to wait a while if there’s no available room. Of course, you can also simply choose to Bet Behind other players. You can also take up multiple seats and play each hand separately.

Anyway, the interface in Live Blackjack by BETER is quite intuitive, so it’s fairly easy to figure out what to do. Use the chips at the bottom of the screen to select the size of your stake. Then, click on any bets you wish to make to place them.

As far as the rules of BETER Live Blackjack are concerned, here are the highlights:

  • The dealer must draw to 16 but stand on 17
  • Double is allowed on any total, and one card is drawn after doubling
  • Doubling after Splitting is allowed
  • Splitting Aces is allowed, but you only draw one card after. A score of 21 after a Split is not considered Blackjack
  • Cannot re-split
  • 10-card Charlie – if you draw 10 cards and don’t bust, you win automatically

All in all, it’s a pretty strong set of rules. We only wish that there was an option to Surrender, but that’s extremely rare in live casino blackjack.

Side Bets & Bet Behind

All BETER Live Blackjack game tables come equipped with two side bets. Both are fairly common in the industry, but we’ll cover the basics of how they work.

  • Player Pair predicts that the first two cards you draw (hole cards) will be of the same rank. If they’re also of the same color or suit, you win a substantially larger payout.
  • Dealer Pair is available on a separate button. It does the same thing as Player Pair but looks at the first two cards the dealer draws. This means the result will only be revealed once the dealer turns over their second card.
  • 21+3 uses your first two cards and the dealer’s face-up card to make three-card poker hands. You need at least a Flush to win, but the stronger your hand the bigger the payout.

Additionally, you can Bet Behind other players even if you don’t have a spot at the table. This means that you can wager that another player will win, which is useful if there are no available seats (or if you see someone doing well and want a piece of the action.)

    Strategy Tips
    • 1
Make sure to use basic blackjack strategy to minimize the house advantage. The high optimal RTP is only relevant if you stick with blackjack charts.
    • 2
Bet Insurance is also available, but we suggest avoiding it. Most experts agree that bet insurance in blackjack is never a good idea.

    Payouts & RTP

The payouts in Live Blackjack by BETER are industry-standard for blackjack. Everything pays as you would expect it to, which is a good thing in this case.

Still, we’ve included a full list of all possible outcomes below.

    Bet/ResultPayout
    Main Bet
    Regular Win1:1
    Blackjack3:2
    Blackjack Insurance2:1
    Player/Dealer Pairs Side Bet
    Mixed Pair6:1

    Suited Pair25:1
    21+3 Side Bet
    Suited Three of a Kind100:1
    Straight Flush40:1
    Three-of-a-Kind30:1
    Straight10:1
    Flush5:1

BETER Live Blackjack RTP is 99.51%, which is slightly above average compared to most similar games. Excellent long-term returns are one of the perks of playing blackjack, but we’re still glad to see BETER decided to go with a player-friendly set of rules.

The figure we just mentioned only applies to the main bet and assumes you’re using basic blackjack strategy. The Player/Dealer Pair and 21+3 side bets have 95.90% and 96.30% RTP, respectively.

    Special Features

Besides the gameplay features described above, BETER Live Blackjack also includes a number of quality-of-life improvements. For starters, you can customize video quality, audio levels, and other options in the menu at the top. This is where you’ll also find the “tip jar” for the dealers, full information about the game, and so on. There’s also an option to hide other players and their cards if you want.

Importantly, the game will make an automatic decision for you if you fail to make a call in the allotted time. All hands 11 or lower hit automatically, while those above 11 always stand. It’s not a strictly optimal way to play, so we suggest making your own calls.

    Languages

    • All BETER Live Blackjack tables are primarily handled in English, which is the only language the dealers will use.
    • However, you can change the user interface to several other languages including Chinese, English, French, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

    Our Verdict

Pulling off a good live blackjack game always comes down to the details. Think of it this way – most blackjack tables are playing the same game, but the small differences in rules can make certain tables stand out. While changes such as Doubling after a Split may not fundamentally change the way you play the game, it’s still better to pick the table that allows the option.

This attention to detail is exactly why the BETER Live Blackjack game is so successful in bringing an authentic, enjoyable experience to players worldwide. It looks good, it plays smoothly, and it simply ticks all of the important boxes in terms of player-friendly rules. Lovers of classic Twenty-One don’t really need much else, which is why they’ll love this game. The wide range of unique side bets and other features are just the cherry on top.

All in all, if you’re looking to play classic blackjack online, you can’t do much better than opt for a BETER live table.
