One of the first releases OnAir Entertainment ever announced was a classic blackjack table. That sounds reasonable enough – twenty-one is one of the most popular games at any casino floor. However, the software provider quickly expanded their offer to also include Eclipse Blackjack, a one-to-many variant.

Let’s start by explaining what the difference is. Most blackjack tables follow a standard configuration with 7 seats and 7 players. You pick a seat, play your hand, and collect your winnings.

However, live casino blackjack sometimes comes with a different structure featuring only one hand and an unlimited number of players. Essentially, everyone shares the same hand – whatever one player draws, everyone at the table draws. However, any decisions you make are completely your own. If you decide to stand, for example, any cards drawn after that do not apply to your hand.

This kind of system has been called many things by different software providers. Infinity blackjack, one-to-many blackjack, common draw blackjack, and so on. While it’s bad for card counters and not very authentic to the real-life experience, it comes with several benefits. For instance, you don’t have to worry whether there are available seats. Also, minimum wagers are considerably lower because the table can service many players.

How to Play Eclipse Blackjack

If you’re at all familiar with the rules of twenty-one, you’ll know how to play Eclipse Blackjack as well.

The good part is that, as a Common Draw-type blackjack game, Eclipse Blackjack does not limit the number of players per table. All players share the same hand but make independent decisions. However, it also means the game feels a bit less authentic. The rounds do go by more quickly, though, because the dealers don’t have to deal with players one by one.

To play Eclipse Blackjack for real money, just open up the game from the casino lobby and place a bet. Click on the chips to select your stake, then drag them over to the bet you wish to make.

As far as Eclipse Blackjack rules are concerned, they’re pretty standard for live online blackjack. Dealers must draw to 16 but stand on all 17s, including soft 17. You are allowed to double, split, but not double after a split. You can only split once, which is why this table has slightly lower RTP than some competing titles.

Eclipse Blackjack Side Bets

One of the ways in which OnAir Entertainment Eclipse Blackjack stands out from the crowd is through the large range of side bets. Note that some casinos may choose not to allow access to some of them. Most will, however, and here’s how they work.

21+ 3 is a very common blackjack side bet. It allows you to predict that your two hole cards and the dealer’s upcard will form a three-card poker hand. The stronger the hand, the better the payout.
Perfect Pairs wins if the two initial cards the players draw are of the same rank. Payments are increased if the cards are also of the same color or suit.
Lucky Lucky offers payouts for a few specific hands. For example, if your two initial cards and the dealer’s upcard are all 7s, you get a payout, with better rewards for same-suit combinations. Other special hands include 6-7-8, if the three cards add up to 21, or if they equal 19 or 20.
Buster Blackjack wins if the dealer goes bust. The more cards the dealer draws before this happens, the better the rewards. You also get a bonus if you have a blackjack when the dealer goes over 21.
Royal Jacks allows you to predict that your initial cards and/or the dealer’s upcard will contain two or more Jacks. The payout is increased if there are three jacks and/or if the jacks are of the same suit.

Eclipse Blackjack Strategy Tips

Learn basic blackjack strategy charts and stick to them. That’s a necessity if you want to make full use of the small house edge.

You can Split a pair of aces. However, if you choose to do so, only one card is dealt to each hand after the fact.

Insurance is available, as always. However, it’s almost universally considered a very bad bet to take, and we don’t recommend using it.

Unfortunately, the side bets in Eclipse blackjack are quite poor in terms of RTP. This is especially true for the ‘unusual’ options such as Royal Jacks.

Eclipse Blackjack RTP sits at a nice 99.44%. This is highly competitive with the rest of the live casino industry, though we can’t say we haven’t seen slightly better rules. Tables that allow players do split twice and double after a split have better odds. However, we’re only talking about fractions of a percentage here.

As stated above, the side bets are generally bad with a huge house advantage. That’s often the case with side bets in blackjack, so we suggest staying away unless you know what you’re doing. Royal Jacks are a particularly egregious example.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the game comes with the full complement of OnAir Entertainment interface features. Our Verdict

For better or worse, we don’t have a lot to say about Eclipse Blackjack – good or bad. It’s well-made, with high production value across the board. The rules are not what we would call optimal, but they’re definitely competitive with what else is out there.

This brings us to our main issue – that there’s not much to make you choose Eclipse Blackjack over competing titles. Companies like Evolution and Playtech have bigger reach so they’re easier to find, and you won’t really find anything with OnAir Entertainment that you wouldn’t with those other providers.

As such, this game is primarily interesting for two kinds of players – mobile casino fans and Hindi speakers. The mobile interface is good enough to warrant extra attention, and a native Hindi-speaking table is very welcome and not something you always see with the competition.

To be perfectly clear, though, you can choose to play Eclipse Blackjack in any case and know that you’re not making a mistake. We just wish the side bets were more interesting – or that OnAir distinguished their product in some other way.
