Shandar Andar Bahar: Our Review, How and Where to Play

OnAir Entertainment’s version Andar Bahar is no different from most other variants of the game available online. It uses one deck, handled by trained dealers.

The goal of Andar Bahar is to predict which of two card piles, named Andar and Bahar, will first draw a card of the same value as the so-called Joker card. This ‘Joker’ is drawn at the beginning of every round. All you need to do to play is set the size of your stake and place it on one of the betting positions. You options include the two main positions – andar and Bahar – and various side bets. A new round starts every 12 seconds and doesn’t last too long, so it’s a fairly dynamic game.

Importantly, Andar always draws the first card, which is not always the case with this game. This means that Andar is somewhat more likely to win, which is why it pays less. Specifically, Andar pays 0.9:1 if you win, while Bahar pays 1:1.

Shandar Andar Bahar stands out from the crowd thanks to a wide offer of side bets. Some of these have been developed specifically for this title, so it’s somewhat innovative. Here’s a rundown of all of the side bets available and how they work.

Ranges

The smaller betting positions at the bottom of the screen are called Ranges. The goal of this side bet is to predict how many cards will be drawn before the game ends. It’s by far the most common side bet in Andar Bahar, and we’ve seen it in dozens of versions before.

The idea is simple – just pick the range of cards in which you believe the Joker will appear. For instance, if you pick 6-10, you’re hoping that the winning card will be drawn as number 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.

There are 8 ranges available: 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, and 41-49.

Andar First/Bahar First

Andar First wins if the first card dealt to Andar has the same value as the Joker. Conversely, Bahar First wins if the first card dealt to Bahar is the same value as the Joker.

Essentially, you’re hoping for a “natural win”. Naturally, this means that this pair of wagers is extremely risky, but also pays a lot at 15:1 and 15.5:1.

Shandar 5

Shandar 5 is an interesting addition. The idea is to use the first 4 cards drawn and the Joker to make Poker hands. If you manage to assemble Three of a Kind, Flush, Straight, Full House, or Straight Flush, you win a payout based on the strength of the winning hand.

Both Andar and Bahar cards are taken into account. In other words, the first two cards from both piles. If the round ends before at least 4 cards are drawn, the Shandar 5 bet is considered a push. In other words, your full stake is simply returned to you.

Suited Andar/Suited Bahar

This wager predicts that the first card drawn to that side will be of the same suit as the Joker. For example, if you bet on Suited Andar, the side bet wins if the first Andar card is of the same suit as the Joker.

In the case of Suited Bahar, the bet pushes if Andar wins on the first card.

Exact 11

This simple wager wins if there are exactly 11 cards dealt in the game round. It counts cards from both sides, however. In practice, this means that you can only win this wager if Andar wins on its sixth card.
