Jumanji - The Bonus Level: Our Review, How and Where to Play

The core gameplay of Jumanji the Bonus Level is based around two wheels. The wheels are turned sideways to the player’s point of view, so they kind of look like slots. There’s a lot to cover here, so we’ll start by explaining what each wheel does.

Players have 8 betting options to choose from: 1, 2, and the six various Bonus bets. 1 and 2 are your main bets, but you’re not really required to place them. You can choose to only bet on the bonuses (though we wouldn’t recommend it.)

The wheel to the left is used to determine which bet(s) win in a round, so it’s pretty straightforward. For example, if you bet on 1 and the wheel lands on a segment marked with 1, you win the bet. Similarly, if you place a bet on one of the bonus rounds and the wheel lands on the corresponding segment, you participate in the bonus round.

The left wheel is divided into 43 segments containing:

• The number 1, appearing on 17 segments
• The number 2, appearing on 11 segments
• Jungle Royale on 3 segments
• Monkey Valley on 3 segments
• Wild Spin on 2 segments
• Snake Bite on 2 segments
• Path of Jumanji on 1 segment
• Rhino Run on 1 segment
• Jaguar Head on 3 segments

The wheel on the right can increase payouts from the first one if it lands on your selected character. 

You choose one of the four characters at the beginning of the game. If you win a bet using the first wheel and the second wheel lands on your chosen character, your winnings from the first wheel are doubled. You can change your character between rounds, but they’re statistically completely equal.

This second wheel also consists of 43 segments which contain:

• The four characters appear on nine segments each
• Two segments which contain two characters each and multiply winnings for both characters
• One Team Segment which multipliers winnings four everyone
• One Respin 2x Segment, which doubles the prize from the first wheel and spins the second wheel again

The Jaguar’s Head is the only segment not directly related to a bet. If only one wheel lands on the Head, half of the players’ stakes are returned to them. If both are hit, the Saving Jumanji bonus round kicks off for every player with an active bet.

A grand total of 6 Jumanji Bonus Level bonus rounds exist, which is a lot to take in. We’ll cover how each of them works below.

Jungle Royale Bonus Round

The Jungle Royale bonus round pits two player positions against the infamous villain Van Pelt. Your job is to pick one of the two positions – Player 1 or Player 2.

Each position will then throw items at Van Pelt in three rounds. The items are selected randomly, alternating between the two positions.

Each item carries a multiplier which is added to the round’s total payout for its player positions. They include:

• Miss – 0x multiplier
• Stone – 2x
• Boomerang – 6x
• Banana 2x

Once the round ends, all participating players win a prize depending on which items were randomly selected for their chosen positions. If the combined multipliers of both positions are enough to defeat Van Pelt, an additional 10x multiplier is added to all payouts in the round.

The result of this round is hidden from players until after you’ve selected your position. In other words, it doesn’t really matter which side you choose – both have an equal shot at winning big.

This bonus round pays between 4x and 27x in total, not counting any additional bonuses or multipliers.

Monkey Valley Bonus Round

Monkey Valley presents takes your adventure to dangerous cliffs. You are faced with three options, represented by three bridges.

The three options each carry a range of possible prizes and a chance for complete failure. 

Once you’ve made your decisions, a pack of monkeys runs across each bridge, inflicting damage to it. This decreases your prize and can even completely destroy the bridge. You win prizes depending on the multipliers remaining on your selected bridge.

• The Low-Risk bridge has a prize range between 10x and 14x with a 20% to lose
• The Medium-Risk bridge has a prize range between 15x and 20x with a 40% to lose
• The High-Risk bridge has a prize range between 25x and 32x with an 80% to lose

If your bridge collapses, you are still awarded a consolation prize of 5x.

This bonus round pays between 4x and 27x in total, not counting any additional bonuses or multipliers.

Snake Bite Bonus Round

The next special feature we’re going to cover is called the Snake Bite. It’s played using a deck of 52 special cards which show a Basket, an Antidote, or a Snake.

The presenter shuffles the deck and deals five cards on the table, face down. You pick three of these cards, which determines your payout.

There are several possible winning combinations, which we’ll list below.

• 1 Basket card – 5x
• 2 Basket cards – 10x
• 3 Basket cards – 30x
• 1 Antidote card – 10x
• 2 Antidote cards – 20x
• 3 Antidote cards – 40x
• 1/2 Snake cards – 0x
• 3 Snake cards – 5x

Note that you can collect several of these in every round, depending on your chosen cards. For instance, if you happen to pick 2 basket cards and 1 antidote card, you win a total of (10x+10x = 20x).

This bonus round pays between 4x and 40x in total, not counting any additional bonuses or multipliers.

Wild Spin Bonus Round

This bonus round turned Jumanji: the Bonus Level into a typical casino game show with a single large money wheel. It’s divided into 54 segments covered in various symbols. These include:

• 21 Butterfly segments – 10x
• 9 Ostrich segments – 15x
• 6 Leopard segments – 20x
• 3 Rhino segments – 40x
• 3 Resping segments
• 4 Character segments – 1 for each character

The presenter spins the wheel when the round kicks off. If the wheel lands on one of the animal segments, you win the associated payout and that’s that.

If the pointer lands on a Respin, all animal multipliers are increased by 5x and the wheel spins again.

If it instead lands on a character, all animal multipliers are doubled, but only if you’ve selected the corresponding character at the start of the round.

Path of Jumanji Bonus Round

The Path of Jumanji is a relatively complex bonus round that’s played like a board game.

This board game features four participating animals in four colors. The goal is to completely cross the 15-step path and collect as many multipliers and prizes as possible along the way. 

You pick your animal at the start of the round. Then, four colored dice are rolled. The result of the dice determines how far down the path the corresponding animal moves. For instance, if the red dice shows 5, the red Elephant moves forward 5 spaces.

Each space you land on contains a 1x, 2x, or 9x multiplier. This multiplier is added to your total payout if your selected animal steps on it.

Additionally, the Green Dome is a special space that appears twice on every animal’s path. If landed on, the Green Dome triggers one of these additional bonuses:

• Multiplies your total payout by 2x
• Moves you forward 3 spaces
• Adds 5x to your total
• Adds 10x to your total
• Triggers the Saving Jumanji bonus round

The Path of Jumanji ends when an animal reaches the center of the board. The maximum payout for this round is 40x, not counting any additional bonuses or multipliers.

Rhino Run: Cash Collect Bonus Round

The Rhino Run special feature is somewhat similar to the Monkey Bridge, but more complex and volatile.

The round is centered around three chests of varying colors sitting on three lines, each of which contains six slots.

First of all, every participating player picks one of the three colors as their own. Your winnings at the end of the round are decided based on your choice.

Then, various prizes will drop from the sky onto the lines in seven rounds. These prizes include:

• Multipliers of 1x,2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 10x
• Green Jewels – collecting three of these triggers the Saving Jumanji bonus round
• Cash Collect Coins are required to collect multipliers and jewels on your line. If more than one is present on a line, all winnings on that line are multiplied.

Essentially, you want the jewels and multipliers to drop onto your line after a Cash Collect Coin has been activated on it. 

Rhinos may also randomly run down the three lines and smash open chests to reveal additional prizes.

All in all, this is the most volatile Jumanji Bonus Level bonus round, offering payouts between 5x and 630x.

Saving Jumanji Bonus Round

This final bonus feature is unique because it doesn’t require an active bet for qualification. However, there are two variants of it and at least three ways to trigger it.

• Hitting Jaguar Heads on both wheels in the main game triggers the Saving Jumanji round for every player with any active bet. One of the four characters is randomly selected to save Jumanji, receiving an 11x prize for everyone who selected that character. The remaining three characters get a 5x consolation prize.
• A different version of the bonus called Saving Jumanji: the Next Level can be triggered during Path of Jumanji and/or Rhino Run. In this case, only players who participated in the bonus round and picked the correct option get to participate. For instance, if your selected animal triggers the bonus round in the Path of Jumanji, you get the reward. There are no additional steps besides activating the bonus – it’s a straight-up cash prize. The payout in this case amounts to a randomly-selected multiplier between 100x and 1,570x.
