PowerUP Roulette is a live casino online roulette game with special multiplier mechanics released by Pragmatic Play in 2022. Pragmatic Play continues to innovate, massively expanding its live casino offer in 2022. We’re especially glad to see them bring serious innovation to the table. In fact, innovation seems to be the key for any company hoping to keep up with Evolution in this part of the online casino industry. Pragmatic recently kicked things up a notch with Boom City Live – the first game to introduce the Power Up mechanic. Now, it seems that it’s being mixed in with live roulette, creating a rather unique product.
Before we dive into how PowerUP roulette works, we’ll get a few things out of the way. Yes, this is roulette with multipliers, complete with a sharp focus on improving Straight Up bets. No, it is not a carbon copy of other members of the genre like Lightning or Quantum Roulette.
That said, it’s still an impressive-looking live casino stream. The Power Up roulette game looks and feels like a TV game show – which seems to resonate with many players. Furthermore, the core ideas are the same as in the competing titles we mentioned earlier. This game changes single-number bets by increasing their volatility and adding the potential for huge wins.

A quick look at how this game immediately tells you that most things still work as you would expect them to. You place bets using the betting table. Just select the size of your bet and place it on whichever wager you’re hoping will win. You have around 15 seconds to place your bets before each round.
The full range of roulette bets is available in the base game, complete with sector bets and the racetrack view. However, the real magic of Power UP roulette kicks in once you start placing Straight Up bets.
Once the betting period is over, the game randomly selects between 3 and 5 numbers. They’re called PowerUP numbers and are highlighted on the betting screen behind the presenter.
The game then proceeds as usual: the wheel spins, and the outcome is determined as usual. However, if the ball lands on one of the selected PowerUp numbers, the game moves into the PowerUp Round.
Note that you do not need to have a bet that covers one of the selected PowerUP numbers to participate in the PowerUP round. All Straight Up bets can benefit from the multipliers.
Once the PowerUP round kicks off, all numbers on the betting table are randomly assigned multipliers. Initially, the multipliers range from 50x to 500x.
The wheel spins again, and any Straight Up bets that win in the PowerUP round are granted increased payouts based on their assigned multiplier.
Interestingly, payouts can be powered up more than once. Before the PowerUP round starts, a new set of PowerUP numbers are determined.
If the ball lands on one of these new PowerUP numbers during a PowerUP round, all multipliers on the board are increased.
This can happen up to 5 times in a row, potentially increasing the multipliers up to 8,000x.
Note that if you make a bet on a Power Up number and it triggers the bonus round, your bet still wins as usual. This also applies to Straight Up bets on that number, which are awarded their base payout as per the paytable.
For most intents and purposes, Pragmatic Play’s PowerUP Roulette uses the standard paytable common to all European Roulette variants. This is true for every type of bet except the Straight Up bet.
That said, single-number bets are crucial to how the game works, so the change is an important one. Straight Up bets in this game can participate in the Power Up round, thus potentially winning massive multipliers. However, their base payout without any attached multipliers has been severely reduced to compensate.
Specifically, single-number bets in PowerUP roulette pay 24:1. That’s a significant decrease over the standard 35:1, but they have the potential to go up to 7,999:1. All other bets remain unchanged, as described on the table below.

Importantly, this means that the RTP of straight-up bets in PowerUP Roulette is 97.19%. That’s a slight decrease over the industry standard for European roulette. This can be ascribed to the increased volatility of having a large range of possible payouts. However, the difference is quite small, and you’re not shooting yourself in the foot just by enjoying the game’s features.
All other bets have the usual 97.30%. as is the case with most live casino roulette games.

Obviously, the main features of the Power Up roulette live casino game are the special round and the multipliers. However, the UI also holds some interesting tidbits.
The PowerUP roulette statistics window on the right offers detailed information about the last 500 rounds. It can be used to get an idea of how likely the multipliers are to trigger – especially more than once.
On the left, you’ll see your typical roulette “racetrack” view, allowing you to place some additional types of bets. Note that wagers like the Orphelins or Neighbors actually combine several regular bets, some of which are on single numbers. Our point is that the race track can be used to play the Power UP round.
Let’s start our verdict by pointing out that this is an exceptionally well-made game. The studio, presentation, and visuals are all of the highest quality, rivalling the best the industry can offer.
As such, this Power Up roulette review is really all about the multiplier mechanics. The best thing about them is that they’re truly original. Pragmatic Play actually brainstormed a good idea instead of just copying what other companies did.
The way the multipliers work in PowerUP roulette is an interesting departure from the usual examples of this style of game. They’re fresh enough to keep you engaged and well-made enough to not sink the RTP too much.
