The OnAir Entertainment Live Blackjack game is this new provider’s first-ever release. 2021 brought forward a relatively large number of new devs, and OnAir’s debut went live on November 25. Their plans seem to include roulette wheels in the future, including an Auto Roulette game. We’ll make sure to keep you posted.

For now, let’s focus on what OnAir Blackjack has to offer. At first glance, it’s clear that this is a classic live dealer blackjack experience that doesn’t seek to shake things up in major ways. However, the video, audio, and presentation quality are all definitely up to par. The visuals are crisp, clear, and in full HD, streaming from a tasteful, non-flashy studio. Thumbs up so far.

Of course, OnAir still needed to find a way to stand out – and quality-of-life features seem to be their weapon of choice. Some interesting features have been implemented to make your experience as a player a bit smoother and more enjoyable. We’ll get to those in the special features section of this OnAir Entertainment Live Blackjack Review. For now, let’s stick to the basics.

How to Play Live Blackjack

Those of you familiar with live dealer blackjack will have no issues figuring out how to play live blackjack by OnAir Entertainment. Simply find an available table, click on it, and select one of the available seats.

Note that you can also pick multiple seats at a time, where available. If you’re currently not able to find an available spot, don’t worry! You can also play OnAir Entertainment Blackjack live using the Bet Behind feature.

Once you’ve taken a seat, you’ll need to wait for the beginning of a round. There’s a 15-second betting period between each round, though this can be skipped if all players agree. Pick your stake and put it on the main bet section of the table. You can also choose to put a stake down for one of the side bets at this time.

The dealer will hand 2 cards to every player and 2 to themselves, one of which is face-down. Using the options to hit for more cards, stand for refusing cards, splitting, and doubling, your job is to get as close to 21 without going over. Specifically, you’ll need to be closer than the dealer. All cards count as their face value, and all 10+ cards count as 10. Ace counts as 1 or 11 – whichever is best.

Live Blackjack by OnAir Entertainment uses fairly standard rules. The dealer must draw to 16 but stand on 17. You can only split once but can split any two cards of the same value, including Aces. Doubling down is also allowed on any hand, but you’ll only receive one card after that.

Live Casinos Best Tips for Live Blackjack

  • OnAir Blackjack Live uses 8 decks and shuffles approximately once half the shoe plays through. This makes card counting difficult, but possible.
  • A simple chart can be used to determine the basic strategy for blackjack by OnAir.
  • The 21+3 side bet uses a scaling payout model which depends on the strength of your hand. This translates to a slightly bigger house edge than with some competitors. That said, blackjack side bets typically have low RTP compared to the main bet.

Live Blackjack Payouts

The biggest concern for reviewing live dealer blackjack payouts is whether the returns for a natural blackjack are 3:2. We’re happy to say that’s the case here and OnAir has avoided crippling their product.

The other OnAir Live Blackjack payouts are all industry-standard. We’ve seen some other live blackjack games implement a 9:1 reward for all 21+3 wins, though, which comes with a better RTP rate. The difference is minor at best, though, and isn’t something most players should concern themselves with.

The result is that OnAir Entertainment Live Blackjack RTP is 99.50%, meaning it’s an overall strong offer. The Perfect Paris and 21+3 side bets come with the usual 95.90% and 96%, respectively.

Special Features

Let’s quickly grow through some additional OnAir Blackjack features.

First of all, the tables come with a set of side bets that are probably familiar to most of you by now. Here’s a quick explanation of what they do, exactly.

  • Perfect Pairs simply rewards the player if the first two cards are of the same rank. If they’re also of the same color, the payouts is bigger, and it grows even further if they’re of the same suit. Check out the OnAir Blackjack paytable above for more details.
  • 21+3 tries to make simple 3-card poker hands using these two so-called hole cards and the dealer’s upcard. The stronger the hand, the bigger the cash reward.

Besides these, there are several features in Live Blackjack by OnAir that serve to make your life a little easier. The first is the option to make a “pre-decision.” This allows you to make your call before the dealer gets to you. The point is kind of moot if you’re alone at the table, but making an early call makes the rounds go by faster.

Once the round ends and the 15-second betting period begins, you can also vote to Deal Now. If all currently active players select this option, the wagering time ends and the dealer will immediately carry on with the round.

Languages

  • All On Air live blackjack tables are presented in English, as far as we can tell. We may see some additional native-speaking options pop up as the company grows, though, and we’ll update this review accordingly.
  • As far as UI options are concerned, there are no settings to directly change the language displayed in the interface. Instead, the game uses the settings you use in the casino. Options for UI and interface languages include English, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.

Our Verdict of Live Blackjack

Considering this is OnAir’s first foray into the live dealer gambling space, it’s clear we have a new competitor on our hands. It’s immediately apparent that this game was made competently and with quality to match the biggest of industry leaders.

That said, the game may have some issues standing out from the crowd. The current live dealer landscape is filled to the brim with classic live blackjack games with 21+3 and Perfect Pair side bets. Thankfully, the localization is quite strong, with plenty of languages to choose from.

However, if you just want to play blackjack live online, you won’t be making a mistake with this release.

Excellent

At the time of writing this review, the Bet Behind feature has not been fully implemented. However, OnAir have stated that it will become available mere weeks after launch. Bet Behind allows you to wager on the outcome of another player’s hand
How many decks does OnAir Blackjack use?
Yes, all players can use the chat feature to communicate with the dealer and other players. In fact, engagement with the dealer is one of the main draws of this exciting release.
The 99.50% RTP of this game implies a 0.50% house edge. Relative to other games of this kind, this is fairly strong - though there are stronger options out there. Also, note that the 21+3 and Perfect Pairs side bets come with considerably lower RTPs and should be used sparingly and with caution.
