Calling live roulette games with multipliers a success would be an understatement. The original Lightning Roulette is the stuff of legends, and none know that as well as Evolution. In 2022 they decided to double down on this concept with releases such as XXXTreme Lightning Roulette. Now we also have Gold Bar Roulette, which takes a somewhat different approach.

Strangely enough, the way Gold Bar roulette works reminds us mostly of Lightning Blackjack. In short, multipliers are earned and then used in later rounds. This is vastly different from earlier live casino games which contained all features and mechanics to a single round.

We’ll get to all of this later. For now, we’ll take stock of the hard work Evolution put into making the experience of playing Gold Bar roulette as enjoyable as possible. It’s streamed in full HD from a purpose-built studio that resembles a huge bank vault. It’s a bright, shining golden set – a bit too flashy for most tastes, but it fits the theme perfectly.

Gold Bar Roulette has been rolled out to Evolution casinos across the globe, and fans of live roulette are most likely to enjoy this title. Especially so if you like trying new things and want to add some extra spice to this casino classic.

How to Play Gold Bar Roulette

The first time you play Gold Bar Roulette live, you’ll mostly have the experience of classic European roulette. Although the presentation and professional live casino presenters make the whole thing feel like a game show, the majority of available bets work as usual. Moreover, it will take time to get the special features going.

The basic controls are pretty standard, too. Just use the chips to select your stake and place them on the bets you wish to make. The dealer spins the wheel, and if the bets you made cover the number the ball lands on, you win!

However, interesting things start happening if you play the Straight-Up bet in Gold Bar Roulette. It’s a multi-step process, though, so let’s start from the beginning.

    1

    Winning Gold Bars

Gold Bar Roulette introduces a sort of in-game currency called Gold Bars. These cannot be purchased – you have to win them by winning Straight-Up bets.

After the betting period is over, the presenter opens up the big vault behind them, revealing between 1 and 20 gold bars. If you win any Straight-Up bets during that round, these bars are yours.

One Gold Bar is essentially an 88x multiplier, Called the Gold Bar multiplier. However, it is strictly tied to the size of the stake you used to win the Gold Bar. This is called the Gold Bar Value.

The Gold Bar Multiplier and Value are displayed at the bottom left of the UI. You can also see how many Gold Bars you currently have.

    2

    Using Gold Bars

Once you have some, you can use Gold Bar to place Straight-Up bets. Note that Gold Bar Roulette bets can be placed alongside cash bets.

If you win a Straight-Up bet with a Gold Bar, you win it’s value, multiplied by the multiplier. Note that you can place multiple Gold Bars on a single number. In case that number wins, your payout is the sum of all the multipliers. For example, winning a Gold Bar bet with two bars wins a 178x. Winning with 5 pays 440x, and so on.

Interestingly, winning these bets can also get you additional Gold Bars. Note that you can end a session of Gold Bar roulette, and any bars you won will be around the next time you play. However, they expire after 180 days of not playing this particular game.

    3

    Straight-up Bet Results

Since there are two possible types of bets you can make, we’ll sum up all the possible ways to win Gold Bar roulette.

    • If you win a Straight-up bet with a cash stake, you win a 24:1 payout plus the number of Gold Bars shown after the safe was opened.
    • If you win a Straight-up bet using Gold Bars, you get a big payout (Gold Bar value x Gold Bar multiplier.) Additionally, you get more bars the same way you would with a cash bet.
    • If you win with both a Gold Bar and chips placed on the same number, you win all of the above. This includes a base 24:1 payout, the Gold Bar multiplied payout, and additional bars.
Live Casinos Best Tips for Gold Bar Roulette
    • 1
Stacking multiple Gold Bars on a single number increases the payout additively. As such, spreading them on multiple numbers is likely a better idea.
    • 2
Similarly, placing both chips and bars on the same number does not make a lot of sense. You win the bars anyway, and a 24:1 payout is very poor without them.
    • 3
Don’t let your Gold Bars go to waste. 180 days is more than enough time to spend them, and not using them is very bad for the game’s RTP.

    Payouts

All bets in Gold Bar Roulette by Evolution have industry-standard payouts, except for Straight-Up bets. Those have a base payout of 24:1, but grant Gold Bars for future betting.

As for other wagers, their payout is proportional to how hard the bet is to win. The more likely you are to hit one of the covered numbers, the smaller the payout.

Evolution describes the RTP of Gold Bar roulette as 97.10%. This is just under the usual European roulette RTP of 97.30%. Interestingly, playing any wager except Straight-Up will mean you get a smaller RTP. Of course, it would also make playing this game pointless. You would get the same payouts and house edge at any other live roulette table.

    Special Features

The section on how to play Gold Bar Roulette covers its most important features. Gold Bars and their multipliers are the main purpose of this game. However, there are a few other features worth pointing out.

For starters, this is still a fully-functional European roulette table. That means you have access to Neighbors and Sectors bets using the Racetrack view to the right.

The acclaimed Evolution UI also allows you to set up Favorite bets and Autoplay. Favorite bets will memorize bet combinations and allow you to place them quickly and easily. Autoplay allows you to set up a bet or bet combination that will automatically be played in every round.

    Languages

    • As a new and relatively experimental release, Evolution Gold Bar Roulette only has one table. It’s presented completely in English.
    • Of course, the UI allows you to change the text language at any moment. You can do so in the settings menu, choosing between English, Albanian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish.

Our Verdict of Gold Bar Roulette

We can only assume that the multi-round features of Lightning Blackjack turned out well for Evolution. They’re expanding those ideas into roulette with multipliers, which is already an innovative and exciting genre.

Our initial impressions are quite positive. The Gold Bar system works quite well because it gives players more control over the outcome. Moreover, the main issue of titles like Lightning Roulette is that actually winning multipliers barely ever happens. By allowing you to place as many multiplier bets as you have Gold Bars, Evolution reduced the unpredictable volatility.

All in all, we believe that Gold Bar Roulette is a smash hit in the making. It’s completely unique, feels great to play, and improves upon some of the most successful ideas of the decade.

The maximum payout in Gold Bar Roulette does not limit the multiplier but instead caps all payouts at $500,000. Technically, you can stack as many gold bars on a single number as you want. For instance, 10 of them would result in an 880x multiplier. You can never win more than $500,000 in a single wager, though.
What is the house edge in Gold Bar Roulette?
What is the release date of Gold Bar Roulette?
Can I play Evolution Gold Bar Roulette in the USA?
The game is mostly luck-based with no exact strategy. However, we gave a few tips for playing above. For starters, never put a Gold Bar and regular cash bet on the same number. You’ll end up wasting some of the potential rewards.
