It’s not hard to argue that Evolution is widely considered the king of casino game shows. They’re the ones who popularized game shows and arguably made the best ones, with massive hits like Crazy Time, Monopoly Live, and even Dream Catcher. These games that went on to define what this young “genre” of casino games is all about and inspire dozens of spinoffs, copies, and even sequels.
Unsurprisingly, Evo continued making game shows well into 2025, most notably with slightly experimental releases like the Super Color Game. The youngest Evolution game shows tend to feature a different style of presentation, with hosts framed apart from the action and RNG-based gameplay that doesn’t rely on physical props or studios. Most fans of live casino games prefer the “real thing”, but we can’t fault Evolution for trying something different.
Ice Fishing Live attempts to blend the spectacle of older Evolution game shows with the RNG and simplicity of more recent releases. As a result, the game features only 2 main bets and 3 largely identical bonus rounds. However, it still offers the colorful visuals and and casual atmosphere that will appeal to fans of something like Crazy Time. Also, Ice fishin offers a higher RTP rate than most game shows out there, which is another big plus in our book.

Ice Fishing Live revolves around a big wheel that’s split into 53 segments. The wheel spins in every round, landing on one of those segments, indicated by the flapper at the top. The goal is to predict which segment the flapper will land on.
There are two general types of bets you can make – Leaf bets and Bonus bets.
Leaf bets predict that the pointer will land on one of the 23 segments on which the relevant leaf appears. They’re called ‘leaf’ bets because the symbols for them are Evolution’s logo, which vaguely looks like a leaf.
There are two Leaf bets you can make – a blue one and a white one. They both have the same payouts and the same probability of winning. They can also have their winnings multiplied by random bonuses, which we’ll explain in a minute.
Bonus bets do not have a fixed payout like Leaf bets. Instead, winning a Bonus bet means that you take part in a bonus round, which kicks off immediately.
There are three types of bonus bets – ‘Lil Blues, Big Oranges, and Huge Reds. If you make a bonus bet and the flapper lands on the corresponding bonus segment of the wheel, you win a payout based on the outcome of the bonus round.
Note that the three bonus rounds are identical in terms of how they work. However, ‘Lil Blues tends to offer the smallest rewards, but it’s the most likely to trigger. Conversely, Huge Reds tend to offer bigger prizes but are harder to hit. Big Oranges sit somewhere in the middle.
The bonus round itself is simple. The presenter will walk onto an ice lake and proceed to catch a fish. The fish will have a multiplier, whose range and average size depend on the type of bonus bet and bonus round. This multiplier is your payout for the round.

Beyond that, all payouts in Ice Fishing Live can be increased by random multipliers.
In every round, multipliers between 2x and 10x are randomly dispersed on several segments of the wheel. If one of these segments wins in that round, any resulting payouts are increased by the multiplier.
For example, if you have a Leaf bet and it wins with a 5x multiplier, you win 4:1 instead of the standard 1:1.
Multipliers can also appear on Bonus segments and work the same way, multiplying any payouts. For example, if you win 100x in a ‘Lil Blues’ bonus round with a 5x multiplier, you’ll win a grand total of 500x.
This means that the most you can win in Ice Fishing is 5,000x by snagging a 500x payout with a 10x multiplier in the Huge Reds bonus round.
Game shows are almost exclusively based on luck, and Ice Fishing Live is no exception. However, we can still offer a few tips that can help you get better results in the long term.
A common mistake with games like these is to try and cover as much of the wheel as possible. We don’t recommend making both Leaf bets, and we certainly don’t recommend trying to hit all three bonus rounds in every round. The simple gameplay of Ice Fishing requires a simple interface, so placing bets in this game is incredibly fast and easy. The main betting positions are all placed front and center. All you have to do to make a bet is select the size of your stake using the chips at the bottom of the screen and click on the position you want to wager on.
For some reason, the main Leaf bets are small buttons on the left, while most of the betting interface is dominated by the bonus wagers. It’s a strange layout on Evolution’s part, but it’s not like the Leaf positions are hidden or inaccessible.
The bottom right screen shows the results of the previous 24 rounds, complete with any relevant multipliers. However, it doesn’t show any statistics.
Beyond that, the UI is identical to pretty much any other Evolution-made game. Most of the other elements are arranged at the top of the screen, such as settings, the live chat, the in-game help screen, and so on.
The game is marked by its bright blue color palette, which is in line with the icy theme. It’s a bit too bright at times – especially if you’re playing at night or in the dark, which can get a bit distracting, but the overall visuals are of high quality. Needless to say, the stream itself is also stable and high-resolution, which is to be expected from a provider of Evolution’s stature.
However, it’s worth noting that very little of the action takes place in an actual studio. There is no physical wheel, in fact, and pretty much all of the game’s graphics are computer-generated imagery. The one exception is the presenter, who is typically shown in a small window to the left. The only time you’ll see more of them is during the bonus rounds. Frankly, this makes the game look worse than many other high-end game shows.
The fact that Ice Fishing Live is completely RNG-based is the game’s biggest downside in our opinion.
For starters, it detracts from the experience. Fans of game shows are used to seeing active presenters whose presence in the studio can truly eleveate these games into something more entertaining. While the hosts themselves do a great job of engaging the audience and chatting with them, the way the game is presented limits ther overall presence and makes it all seem more stilted and artificial.
Moreover, as fans of live casino games, we can’t say that we’re big fans of the fact that RNG fully replaced the physical wheel of many game shows. To be clear, this is irrelevant from a gameplay perspective – the odds are still the same, regardless of whether an actual wheel or a computer generates results. However, real studios make it all feel a lot more authentic and exciting, which is why we prefer live dealer tables to RNG-based games in the first place.
Ice Fishing Live represents a new direction for game shows, and it introduces some solid ideas that make it a solid all-around game. However, it’s also noticeable that Evolution cut some corners in the name of making it cheaper to run and maintain, and it’s definitely noticeable.
Let’s start with the good. While the core gameplay is fairly standard for “wheel of fortune”-type games, it also removes a lot of the unnecessary fluff that many modern game shows have been stuffed with. It keeps its betting options simple and easy to understand, which makes it more accessible and less confusing.
Moreover, this streamlined approach means that the game doesn’t slow down or stop to run you through complex bonus rounds. It’s a breath of fresh air since most new game shows seem bloated and slow.
However, the fully RNG-based nature of Ice Fishing is the big elephant in the room. It feels a lot less authentic than a lot of competing titles, and the computer-generated graphics detract from the experience and the presenter’s ability to keep players engaged. The only obvious benefit is that it’s much cheaper to run for Evolution, which is not a big advantage for us as customers.
Also, the bonus rounds probably could have been a bit more creative. We appreciate the fact that they’re purposefully simple so as not to slow down the game’s pace, but a bit of variety could have gone a long way.
Either way, Ice Fishing Live is a nice addition to the Evolution roster of live game shows because it can serve as an “entry-level” title before you move on to bigger and more interesting things. However, we doubt we’ll be coming back to it any time soon due to its static presentation and simplistic features.
