Before the release of Carnival Treasure, SA Gaming was one of the only major live casino software providers not to offer a game show. Though colorful and diverse in its own right, this provider’s portfolio mostly centers on classic gambling games like baccarat and roulette, with a few interesting Asian-flavored releases like Fish Prawn Crab.

However, the meteoric rise of wheel-powered casino game shows makes it impossible to ignore them. Driven by success stories of games like Crazy Time, more and more live casinos are incorporating these exciting, entertainment-first types of games into their core offer. In that sense, SA Gaming is a bit late to the party.

With that in mind, the first-ever SA Gaming game show – Carnival Treasure – is a relatively simple idea that’s mostly a carbon copy of existing titles. It’s less like Crazy Time and more like Dream Catcher or Mega Wheel, focusing on a simple Wheel of Fortune-style gameplay and a wide range of bets with varying volatility. There are no real bonus rounds of flashy extra features to speak of, though there is a Bonus segment that can increase other wagers.

In any case, the lack of bonus rounds might be an issue for some, but it ultimately keeps the pace of the game fast and dynamic because it doesn’t have to slow down and play out the bonuses every time one hits.

Let’s go through the rules and gameplay of Carnival Treasure Live and see what it’s all about.

How to Play Carnival Treasure Live

Like most other Money Wheel live casino games, the basic goal of Carnival Treasure is to predict which segment of the wheel the flapper will land on after a single spin.

The wheel itself is split into 54 segments of different types:

  • Number 1 (Blue) – 22 segments
  • Number 2 (Green) – 14 segments
  • Number 4 (Yellow)– 8 segments
  • Number 7 (Purple) – 5 segments
  • Number 18 (Orange) – 2 segments
  • Number 40 (Red) – 1 segment

Every type of segment corresponds to a single type of bet that the player can make. Moreover, the numbers shown on the segments tell you how much you stand to win.

For example, the Number 1 bet pays 1:1 if the flapper lands on a segment with the number 1; the Number 7 bet wins 7:1 if the flapper lands on a segment with the number 7, and so on.

All you have to do to play is select the size of your stake and place it on one or more betting positions. You can place any combination of bets in any round, as long as you do it during the 15-second betting period.

Betting Options in Carnival Treasure

The table below shows every type of bet available in Carnival Treasure, listing its payout, segment color, the number of wheel segments it appears on, and its probability of winning.

Note: the two bonus segments do not end the round and do not cause other bets to lose; they merely cause the wheel to spin again. As such, the probabilities shown below do not account for them. Specifically, the probability of hitting any one segment of the wheel is considered 1-in-52, not 1-in-54.

Bet Base Payout Color No. of Segments Win Probability
1 1:1 Blue 22 42.24%
2 2:1 Green 14 26.88%
4 4:1 Yellow 8 15.36%
7 7:1 Purple 5 9.60%
18 18:1 Orange 2 3.84%
40 40:1 Red 1 1.92%

Carnival Treasure Bonus

In addition to 52 standard segments, the Carnival Treasure wheel contains two bonus segments:

  • 2x Bonus
  • 10x Bonus

These bonus segments are not associated with any bet, and they do not provide any direct payouts. However, if the flapper lands on a Bonus segment, all currently active bets remain in place and the wheel spins again. Any wins resulting from this second spin have their payouts increased by 2x or 10x, depending on which Bonus segment won the initial spin.

For example, let’s say you make a Number 4 bet. The wheel spins and lands on the 2x Bonus. The presenter will automatically spin the wheel again. If this second spin happens to land on a Number 4 segment, you’ll win 8:1 instead of the base 4:1.

These bonuses can stack if the flapper lands on Bonus segments in multiple consecutive spins. For example, if it lands on a 10x twice, any payouts from the third spin will be multiplied by 100x.

However, winnings from a single game round are capped at 10,000 times the bet amount or $100,000 USD.

🔍 Both bonuses appear exactly once on the wheel, which means the probability of hitting one of them is 1.92%, and the probability of hitting either is 3.84%.

Strategy Tips

Game shows are almost exclusively based on luck, and Carnival Treasure is no exception. However, we can still offer a few tips that can help you get better results in the long term.

  • SA Gaming has provided no detailed information about the RTP rates of different bets. The game only lists the ‘optimal’ return, meaning the best bet in the game, at 96.60%.
  • Based on our experience with games of this type, this figure likely refers to the Number 1 bet. Smaller, less volatile wagers typically have the lowest house edge.
  • All bets have the potential to secure a bonus, which makes RTP calculations much harder to do. However, based on our experience, the 1 and 2 bets are both good options.
  • If you’re looking at some of the riskier, higher-paying bets, the 40 bet is likely a better pick than 18 – it pays more than double but is exactly half as likely to win.
  • Combining multiple bets in every round and making flat bets seems to be the most successful strategy for Carnival Treasure.
  • Our favorite combination is 2 units on 1, 1 unit on 2, and 1 unit on 40. The two safer bets almost guarantee a win, while the 40 bet is there to pick up rare long-shot wins.

Pros and Cons of Carnival Treasure by SA Gaming

Pros Cons

✅ Simple, beginner-friendly gameplay

✅ 8 types of bets with different payouts, probabilities, and volatility levels

✅ Bonus multipliers that can increase payouts up to 10,000x

✅ No RNG involved – fully live dealer

✅ Lots of language options, particularly for players from Asia

❌ Fundamentally identical to many competing games like Dream Catcher or Mega Wheel/p>

❌ No information provided about the exact RTP of individual bets

❌ Dated graphics

Payouts

The core payout system of Carnival Treasure is quite intuitive: the more likely a bet is to win, the less it pays. Of course, the potential for bonus multipliers also affects this math, but that’s the basic gist of it.

The payouts in this game are easy to remember, too: every bet pays the odds in its name. Payouts can be further increased by the bonus segments, but they are all hard capped at 10,000x or $100,000.

Additionally, these figures help Carnival Treasure stand out from similar titles like Dream Catcher. While the basic principles of these bets remain the same, we’ve never seen such a game feature numbers like 7 and 18. Ultimately, these bets are what make SA Gaming’s Carnival Treasure different from its competition.

Bet Payout
Carnival Treasure Paytable
1 1:1
2 2:1
4 4:1
7 7:1
18 18:1
40 40:1

RTP & House Edge

Unfortunately, SA Gaming has provided precious little information about the RTP rate of bets in Carnival Treasure. The in-game information only tells us the optimal return-to-player rate of 96.60%.

This presumably refers to only a single bet in the game – the one with the highest RTP. We assume that’s the Number 1 bet, but we can’t be certain.

On one hand, 96.60% is a fairly strong payout rate compared to most other luck-based game shows. For comparison, Dream Catcher offers 96.58%, while Crazy Time boasts 96.08%.

However, we have to say that we would have preferred more transparency from SA Gaming. Having accurate information on every available bet would make it a lot easier for us to recommend Carnival Treasure.

Interface & Usability

The SA Gaming interface is usually quite comprehensive, offering a wide variety of stats, scoreboards, and other figures. Of course, Carnival Treasure is a fairly simple game, so the UI keeps things straightforward as well.

The six main betting positions are placed front and center, so it’s hard to miss them. You can also see a result history for the previous 500 rounds or so on the left, and the winning bet statistics from the previous 50 rounds. While nice to see, these stats shouldn’t impact your decision-making – after all, this game is purely based on luck.

Beyond that, the interface offers the usual plethora of settings and options, including audio levels, video quality, language settings, and so on. The only minor gripe we have in this regard is that the settings don’t seem to carry over between sessions – you’ll set things up as you want them, only to have them reset the next time you launch the game. However, we presume this is a minor bug that SA Gaming will iron out eventually.

Graphics & Presentation

SA Gaming titles are not exactly industry leaders when it comes to graphical fidelity, and that still holds true in Carnival Treasure.

To be clear, the game doesn’t look bad. However, the video quality is notably lower than with some major competing brands such as Evolution and Playtech. Although this means that Carnival Treasure tends to perform better on older devices and poor internet connections, it still mars our overall impression of the game.

Similarly, the studio is less elaborate than what we often see with entertainment-style casino game shows. It’s themed around a carnival, but the studio itself boils down to a big wheel and an even bigger green screen. It looks serviceable enough, but it’s certainly not the best live casino games can offer.

Live Casino Experience

In terms of how the game actually feels to engage with, Carnival Treasure is a big departure from SA Gaming’s usual style.

This provider tends to keep things relaxed and professional, and their dealers largely focus on the gameplay itself. However, the main point of a presenter in a game like this is to build up excitement and engage the audience, which has been a big trend in recent years. To that end, this is also the first SA Gaming title to feature a live chat feature.

The overall atmosphere of the game is thus quite casual and fun, focusing on community engagement and a theme-show-like presentation style. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it certainly fits this style of gaming.

Languages

  • The one and only Carnival Treasure stream is presented entirely in English.
  • However, the SA Gaming interface allows you to change the language of the game’s text, with most options focusing on this provider's core markets in East Asia. Language options include English, Tagalog, Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and others.

Our Verdict

As a provider’s first foray into the world of game shows, Live Carnival Treasure is a solid all-around release. It looks good, plays well, and ultimately delivers an enjoyable experience for fans of this kind of casino gaming.

However, it should be clear that this game doesn’t exactly break any new ground. Most of its gameplay ideas have been lifted directly from titles like Dream Catcher, with only slightly different payouts and bonus rules.

That said, SA Gaming still provides a lot of language and accessibility options, which make their title a valuable alternative, particularly for players from markets like India, the Philippines, Thailand, and the rest of East Asia.

Hopefully, we’ll see this company continue to innovate and introduce fresher and more creative game shows to its portfolio.

How We Rate Live Casino Games

Here at Livecasinos.com, how we rate casino games is based on a strict set of standards that were developed over many years of playing and analyzing live dealer games of all sorts. Here are some of the key factors we consider before giving our recommendation:

  • Graphics & Stream Quality – Although visuals are not the most important factor, they certainly matter. Good-looking games create a better and more immersive atmosphere. Moreover, the game’s graphics can set it apart from the competition.
  • UI and User-Friendliness – Well-designed games have intuitive interfaces that are easy to use and access. Our reviews also consider any additional UI elements such as betting options, performance settings, stats and histories, and more.
  • Payouts & RTP – How much your bets win is crucial for determining a casino game’s quality. A higher RTP is always better for us as players, making RTP one of the most objective ways to rate how good a particular game is.
  • Gameplay – This refers to how the game actually plays – whether it’s exciting, fun, engaging, and whether we’ve actually enjoyed playing it.
  • Extra Features – This refers to any added features, such as additional bonuses, multipliers, and UI elements.
  • Platform compatibility – We also rate how well a game performs on mobile devices, apps, etc.
  • Localization and Native-speaking Tables – Games with a lot of language options are more accessible to international audiences, which is why we consider such features as well.
