The purpose of baccarat card counting is to keep track of cards as they’re played and removed from the game. This gives you information about which cards are still left in the shoe. This remaining shoe composition can actually impact the chances of Player or Banker bets. For instance, high cards are statistically better for the Player, while an abundance of low-value cards increases the chances of Banker bets winning. How to Use the Baccarat Odds Calculator Tool

The calculator was designed to be intuitive and easy to use. However, you should probably already know how to count cards in baccarat as well as the overall basics of baccarat strategy.

Once you’re confident in your understanding of baccarat card counting, just follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Select the number of decks used at the table. The total number of cards in a baccarat shoe is extremely important for the statistics of the game. Start by selecting the number of decks used per shoe at the table you’re playing on. Online games typically provide this information in the in-game help menu. If you’re playing at a real-life table, just ask the dealer to find out how many decks are in play

Step 2: Wait for a new card shoe. The calculator assumes that you’re starting to count with a new shoe. By default, it assumes all of the cards from all of the decks are still in play. If the game you’re playing is currently mid-shoe, we recommend waiting for a new one to be shuffled.

Step 2: Update the calculator as cards are removed from play. Every time the croupier deals a card and removes it from the shoe, update the corresponding card counter box. For example, if you’re playing a single-deck game and a 5 is dealt, you should change the number of 5s to be 3 instead of 4.

Step 4: Once the round is over, hit Calculate. The tool will account for how the shoe has changed and provide you with new odds and probabilities.

Step 5: Make Player/Banker bets based on the house advantage. The easiest way to use the provided information is to make the bet with the lower house edge. You can find this data at the bottom of the calculator under “Totals.” For example, if Banker is showing -0.010 and the Player is showing -0.012, you should make a Banker bet.

In a new shoe, the Banker bet will always be the better choice. However, in certain circumstances such as shoes with a lot of high-value cards between 6 and 9, the Player bet can actually become the better choice.

A note on Tie bets: The calculator also shows the probability and house edge of the Tie bet. However, you should know that the Tie will never be better than Player or Banker bets, regardless of the circumstances. The house edge of Ties in baccarat is so high (14.3% with a fresh shoe) that there is no scenario in which that house edge becomes lower than with Player/Banker.

However, you should be aware of the limitations of baccarat card counting. First of all, you will never be able to completely overcome the house edge in baccarat, no matter the current composition of the shoe. The most you can do is reduce it by a a bit by knowing which bet to make.

However, this will still give you the maximum expected return you can find at a baccarat table. The difference typically comes down to a fraction of a percent, but it’s still there. As any gambler and statistician will tell you, these small advantages add up over time – especially if you play a lot of baccarat.

In short, our baccarat calculator cannot help you “beat the casinos” because that’s impossible. However, it will help you get the most bang for your buck, which is the foundation of any good gambling strategy.
