With over 18 years of experience Rodano is very influential in regulating international online gambling markets.
Playtech’s executive force is stronger by an experienced online gaming regulator who was appointed the new Chief Policy Officer two days ago. The new CPO is Francesco Rodano, former head of Italian regulatory body, AAMS (Autonomous Administration of the State Monopolies). Rodano has achieved notable results in his home country making it second on the list of Europe’s largest regulated gambling markets. Until now the Italian was working with policy makers and regulators and then he decided to switch sides, so he joined one of the leading online gaming provider out there – Playtech.
Rodano’s main role will be advising Playtech’s executives concerning local, national and EU policies with the aim to develop their business and expand their reach through new opportunities. The truth is that Playtech could not have found the better man for the job, as apart from the fact that he has reformed Italian online gaming regulation and was directly responsible for a major growth in gambling revenue, he is also a member of the European Commission’s Group on Gambling Services. During his time in AAMS he introduced regulated poker in 2008 and online casinos in 2011. Still, his advice will exclude Italian market, possibly due to potential conflict of interest. With a vast experience of even 18 years in the regulation of igaming, Rodano will be a great asset to Playtech. Rodano will report to Mor Weizer, Playtech’s CEO who has expressed his delight about this new acquisition in their team and added that he expects the new CPO to contribute to further development of the company.
Rodano will be based in London and he will also be responsible for communication with relevant institutions and establishing new connections and relationships with key stakeholders in the online gambling industry. He said that much effort has been put into the development of regulated markets and he feels that the operators need some help as well. Probably there lies the reason of this change in his career. Here’s how Rodano explains it: “After many years spent as a regulator, I’m excited to move to the industry side and to join Playtech at a time when focus on regulated markets is a global priority. Playtech has a talented and respected management team and I am really looking forward to supporting them on public policy matters.”
