Playtech are rubbing their hands at the news of their customers joining forces. Namely, Betfair and Paddy Power, two of Playtech’s clients have announced a 5-billion-pound merger with the aim to create a leader in the online gambling industry. This deal will not benefit only the direct actors but also their mutual partner Playtech that expect to increase the number of customers through this merger.

The two rivals Betfair and Paddy Power decided to join forces instead of competing on the UK gambling market.  According to BBC the new group formed from Betfair and Paddy Power would be the UK online market leader with a 16% share, way ahead recently merged Ladbrokes/Coral, William Hill and Bet365. The deal is for Paddy Power to have the majority share in the group owning 52 per cent. The new group will be run by Breon Corcoran, former CEO of Paddy Power. According to his statement for Reuters the merged group is expected to be a leader in the UK, Australia, Ireland and in the USA.

Betfair and Paddy Power have another thing in common. That is their online gaming provider, Playtech, responsible for their offer of online casino games. Betfair and Playtehc go way back, and in 2012 they have extended their cooperation by introducing online poker and bingo. Paddy Power too is another customer to use the wide range of online casino games provided by the Isle of Man-based Playtech that will definitely benefit from this merger. Considering the multi-year cooperation with both of the partners, Playtech expect to extend their relationship with the group as a online casino software provider, and thus acquire new customers. Apart from them Playtech also provide their rivals with online gaming software, Ladbrokes and William Hill. Actually they even have a majority share in TradeFX Ltd and through it they have acquired a trading platform Ava Trade.
