Latvia Set Live Casino License Fee

By: Staff Writer, December 1, 2017

Latvia Parliament determined a fixed Live Casino license fee in excess of €400,000

It’s another important update to the Latvian Live Casino scene where the Riga City Council prohibited all slot halls in the historic district earlier this year except those located in four and five-star hotels.

Due to this move, 41 gaming halls are to be closed in the next five years and the Supreme Court ruled the decision to approve the council’s rejection of a new venue in the old district.

Latvian Gaming Business Association advisor strongly opposed by saying the city business district will face reduced footfall as a result of the ban and that it was impossible for the operators in the region to make long-term investments due to the erratic regulatory environment.

Now a new decision is set to hit casino operators, especially the smaller ones.

Licensing Fee

Previously, the Parliament of Latvia considered the idea that the companies wanting to offer Live Dealer online casino services should pay €11,700 per table every year but now they’ve changed their mind and set a fixed annual fee.

New Live Casino licensing fee will require operators to pay fixed annual fee of €400,000 with no limitations with regards to the number of Live Dealer tables.

The fee will be implemented from January 1st 2018, and will apply to all operators that offer Live Casino in Latvia.

Evolution Gaming Confirms the News

Evolution Gaming confirmed the implementation of a new licensing system in the short press release on their website.

Evolution Gaming operates a large, state-of-art Live Dealer casino out of Riga. The company has 3,000 employees, almost twice as many as in 2016. Riga studio is the larger from their two central studios and generic, dedicated live tables and the real land-casino environment they create, together provide the best experience possible for the customers.

The subsidiary of this leading provider of Live Casino solutions, Evolution Latvia was named the fastest growing employer in the annual Dienas Bizness TOP 500 awards earlier this month. This recognition only confirmed their growth efforts and dedication to the business and also got them the attention from potential new employees.

From Latvia, Evolution Gaming operates with more tables than any land-based operator in Europe, therefore, they are the company that will be influenced the most by new licensing fee in the country.
