Evolution suspends Georgian studio operations.

In accordance with Georgian authorities’ instructions, Evolution Gaming has to temporarily close the floor operations at its Tbilisi site.

Impact on Studio Operations in Georgia

As a result, the company will significantly reduce the workforce. However, a large part of the operations will be able to proceed through its other European studios.

The Tbilisi studio adheres to current guidelines regarding social distancing.  Moreover, the company has taken an extensive number of infection prevention measures in the studio.

The official statement said that Evolution Gaming is in close contact with local authorities. The company is doing this in order to “verify the taken measures and to be able to reopen the studio.”

“The situation is developing, and Evolution will adapt continuously,” the company confirmed.

Will Other Studios Follow?

“The company has routines for redundancy and continuity in the respect of studio operations.”

There is a possibility for more obstruction occurring at its other locations. As previously announced, Evolution operates studios in eight locations.

In addition to Georgian studio, these are studios in Latvia, Malta, Canada, the USA, Romania, Spain, and Belgium.

Future Plans

Besides addressing the closure of its site in Georgia, Evolution has revealed some of the 2019 figures.

The firm finished 2019 with operating revenue for Q4 saw a 51% year-on-year leap. The numbers went from € 70.2 million to € 106 million. This helped propel the full-year figures to € 365.7 million, marking a 49% rise from € 245.4 million.

Martin Carlesund, group CEO acknowledges this is an uncertain time with the Coronavirus spreading throughout the world.

“I regularly return to the paranoid attitude that characterizes Evolution as a company,”  he says. “Our drive to adapt and develop the company will truly be tested also this coming year.”

During 2020 they not only want to maintain their leading market position; but also strengthen it. Carlesund says that they will do it “by constantly challenging both ourselves and the entire industry.”

This year they will launch 12 new games. The games will feature both innovations in the classic table games category and new titles in the game show category.
